Because Milk easily goes off, it is often made into more sustainable products such as cheese and yoghurt.

Making Yoghurt:

1.Milk is heated to sterilise it, killing any bacteria present.

2.The milk is stirred thoroughly to mix the ingredients up.

3.A starter culture of lactobacillus is then added.

4.The lactobacillus ferment the sugar, lactose, inthe milk to lactic acid.

5.The lactic acid lowers the pH of the mixture, this makes the milk coagulate (solidify) into thicker substances like yoghurt.
