Main current beliefs of the Conservative Party

Conservatives believe that we ae overgoverned and have a long term objective to reduce taxation and regulations upon personal and business activity. Gov should not overload commerce and industry with too many restrictions + regulations. They also believe that gov shouldnt threaten the provision of public services. 

They believe prison is a good detterent against crime, and tend to emphasise authoritarian elements of law and order. They accept that youth crime does have social origins and so improvements in family life and opportunities will have a posiive impace on crime levels.
