Magnetic field - a region where magnetic materials (like iron and steel) and also wires carrying currents experience a force acting on them

Magnetic fields can be represented by a field diagram - the arrows on a field diagram point from the north pole of the magnet to the south pole

Magnetic field around a current carrying wire:

• There is a magnetic field around a straight current carrying wire
• The field is made up of concentric circles with the wire in the centre
