ACT 4 SCENE SUMMARIES
ACT IV SCENE I
The tree witches create a powerful spell and prepare to meet Macbeth
Macbeth enters and commands hem to answer his questions
They call up powerful spirits to respond to him
He is told three prophecies:
1. He should fear Macduff
2. Cannot be harmed by one born of a woman
3. He is secure until Birnan wood comes to Dunsinane
He then asks for more information about Banquo’s offspring and is shown a vision of eight kings all descended from Banquo
The witches vanish and Macbeth curses them
Lennox appears and tells Macbeth that Macduff has fled to England
Macbeth is determined to find Macduff and kill his wife and children
ACT IV SCENE II
Lady Macduff is with her sin and Ross
Ross informs her that her husband has fled to England, she accuses Macduff of cowardice
A messenger arrives and warns Lady Macduff of danger
Murderers enter and kill Macduff’s son and peruse Lady Macduff to also kill…
