Summary:

Three witches are gathered in an open place in a thunder storm. They agreee to re-assemble on the moorland before the sunset to meet Macbeth. 

Analysis:

The opening of a play is particularly important in establishing a mood or atmosphere in which the main action of the play will be seen by the audience. The scene is set in 'an open place', a place removed from the ordianry buisness of men and the usual social rules.
