London

While London may not be classed as a megacity in terms of population, it is a major global hub and a worldwide recognised city. It is a global financial centre and is home to some of the worlds busiest airports. It houses around 8 million people and has a rich industrial and cultural background that draws people to live there.

However while many see megacities as places of opportunity and development, there are many problems involving their lack of sustainability. Urban sprawl is an example of the uncontrolled and fairly unplanned expansion of cities that often occurs with little thought to the future.
