Locus of control was developed by Rotter.

It refers to the sense of control people perceive to have over the successes, failures and events in their life.

It is measure using a questionnaire - people that score highly have a high external locus of control. Score low = high internal locus on control

  • Believe that their decisions and efforts influence the events in their life and that they are their own choice and responsibility
