She states "It worried me going in through these pickets lines." At the time, the miners were on strike, and under the 1982 Employment act, no secondary picketing was allowed, yet Arthur Scargrille went ahead without a ballot and called the strike. Liz Marshall was in fact worried of being labelled as a scab, this being a person that works despite an ongoing strike. Although she was only a canteen assistant she knew these picket lines were in fact voilent, aggressive and intimidating.
