Lipids are made of the elements Carbon , Hydrogen and Oxygen.
They have a lower portion of water than carbohydrates and they are insoluble in water - this is because most of their chemical bonds are mostly non-polar.
The funtions of Lipids include:
- Energy Storage
- Making up membranes
- Insulation
- Protection
- Boyancy
- Acting as hormones
Lipids are mode of two molecules: glyrecrol and fatty acids.
A Glycerol molecule is made up from three Carbon atoms with a Hydroxyl Group attached to it and Hydrogen atoms occupying the remaining positions.
