Protostar
- Force of gravity causes dust and gases to spiral together
- Gravitational potential energy is converted into heat energy so the temp rises
- When hot enough hydrogen nuclei undergo fusion to become helium nuclei
Main Sequence Star
- Heat created by fusion creates an outward pressure against the force of gravity pushing inwards
- Due to massive amounts of hydrogen the star maintains its stable period for many years
Red giant and supergiant
- Hydrogen begins to run out
- Heavier elements such as iron are made by nuclear fusion…
