  • Force of gravity causes dust and gases to spiral together
  • Gravitational potential energy is converted into heat energy so the temp rises
  • When hot enough hydrogen nuclei undergo fusion to become helium nuclei

Main Sequence Star

  • Heat created by fusion creates an outward pressure against the force of gravity pushing inwards
  • Due to massive amounts of hydrogen the star maintains its stable period for many years
