1) The Health and Safety Work Act:
This states that the employer needs to:
- Provide training for all staff where needed.
- Have all facilities up to standard.
- Have all safety precautions in place.
- Make the environment safe.
- Have to have a health and safety policy.
The employee needs to:
- Follow the health and safety policy and procedures.
- Use the equipment properly.
- Protect theirself and others in the environment.
2) Data Protection:
- Keep clients details private/secure/confidential, e.g. in a locked cabinet, password on computer...
- If a client leaves, keep details for 3-5 years.
- Clients can have access to their records at any time.
- Make sure the client consents, e.g. signs everything.
3) Fire Precaution Act:
- Having a set escape/evacuation route if there is a fire and making sure all fire escapes are clear.
- Fire alarms are fitted and tested.
- Fire extinguishers.
- Regular fire drill.
- Training on equipment if provided.
