Kibera is the largest slum in the whole of Africa and is situated on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. It is home to around 1 million people, of which 100,000 are orphaned children under the age of 18. It lacks sewers and has poor levels of sanitation and disease is one of the main killers due to awful levels of dirt and filth. Some statistics.
