• Lung maturation in utero
• Bone maturation in infants
• Neonatal brain development
• Infant growth by enhancing growth hormone,insulin like growth factor (IGF)
• Increased BMR to achieve calorigenesis
• Increase in Beta-adrenergic receptor quantity and/or sensitivity- increased heart rate
• Increased skeletal muscle contractility
• Increased cardiac muscle contractility, increased HR, CO, pulse pressure
