Our environment shapes our behaviour, environmental factors act as stimuli which we learn to respond to. We are not constricted by our genetics but by the environment we are brought up in. 

Behaviour is measurable, we can set up stimuli and obseve and measure the response. This means behaviour can be studied scientifically.
