Social Learning -
- Also known as observational learning
- Involves observing and copying the actions of others, role models for example
- All behaviour is learned from the environment
- The personality is not genetically programmed
- The role model (or significant other) is more likely to be copied if they are the same gender as the learner
- They are also more likely to be copied if they are powerful and authotitive
- Can occur if someone joins a new group and adopts the norms of the group
- Role models may cause young performers to develop an interest in sport
