Authoritarian or Autocratic

  • Central, clearly defined directives.
  • Disadvatange that there is no room for subordinate input, leading to dissatisfaction, e.g, 'put it there'.

Laissez Faire

  • The opposite of autocratic, allowing subordinates the freedom to make decisions within broad guidelines.
  • This allows for innovation but may leave subordinates the freedom to make decisions within broad guidlines.
  • This allows for innovation but may leave subordinates feeling that they have little direction or support, e.g, 'you decide where it goes'.
