2. The perfect tense of regular verbs
Use the perfect tense to describe completed actions in the past. It translates into English in three ways:
- I met
- I have met
- I did meet
For the majority of verbs, the perfect tense is formed using the relevant part of the auxiliary verb avoir (to have) and a past participle.
To form the perfect tense of regular -er, -ir and -re verbs:
- -er => e (acute)
- -ir => i
- -re => u
