Types of Punishment:
- Wergild -ABOLISHED
- Mutilations- Same as Anglo Saxons - declined as the Church didn't like it
- Executions -only for serious crimes, but they were now public - made king look more powerful
- Outlaws - Same as Anglo Saxons
- The Stocks - a way of humiliating petty criminals
- Fines - Mainly used for petty crimes
- Prisons - only used for holding the accused before a trial
Religion doesn't play a major part in everyday punishment
