Modern day recipe

GRAMMAR

- Imperitive mood is used in a recipe - words such as 'mix', 'cover and 'move' tell the reader what to do. This sort of mood is used as a recipe needs to be precise, this is so there is no possible room for confusion.

- The imperitive mood is also appropriate to give instruction.

- It also allows the text to be concise, succinced and brief - fitting the conventions of a recipe and meeting the requirements of a instructive text.

Non standard simplified language used - contrastig to Crystals argument of informalisation and Sinclair's theory of condensed language this is not down to technology. This is down to the genre and how this particular text should be constructed in order to best fit it's purpose.

There is use of contractions - oz for ounces - this is expected due to the genre.
