Krebs Cycle:
- Acetyl co-enzyme A reacts with a 4 carbon compound molecule to form a 6 carbon molecule that enters the Krebs Cycle
- Co-enzyme A is recycled to the Link reaction
- in a series of oxidation / reduction reactions
- reduced co-enzymes are produced
- ATP is produced by substrate level phosphorylation
- Carbon dioxide is lost (Carbon atom number goes down)
For each multiple of glucose, Krebs Cycle generates:
- 4x carbon dioxide production by decarboxylation
- 6x NADH produced by redox reactions
- 2x FADH2 produced by redox reactions
- 2x ATP produced by substrate level phosphorylation
