Kinetic energy is the energy of movement. Any object that is moving has kinetic energy. 

Kinetic Energy = 0.5 * Mass * Speed^2

Kinetic energy depends on speed and mass so the heavier or faster something is, the bigger its kinetic energy.

To slow a moving object done, the kinetic energy must be transferred into other types of energy (law of conservation of energy).
