Key Definitions for Anaerobic energy system

Anerobic energy system - a process that provides energy for the resynthesis of ATP without the use of oxygen

Coupled reaction - a chemical reaction in which energy is transferred from one side of the reaction to the other.

Phosphocreatine - an energy-rich compound of creatine and phosphiric acid, found in muscle cells.

Lactate anaerobic energy system - the system that produces energy for ATP resynthesis by breaking down glucose without oxygen and producing lactate as a by-product.
