Eli Zarketsky
marxism
1976
Zarketsky's theory
saw family as an aid to capitalism as it relied on the housewives to produce the next generation of workers for the bourgerouise.
Family consumes the products of the capitalism which increases profit for the ruling class. The rich get richer whilst the poor get poorer.
Critism of Marxist approach and Zarektsky's approach to family
ignore the fact that many people are satisfied with family life and marriage
feminist argue that marxists work with the traditional model of the nuclear family that of the male bredwinner and the female a housewife. Marxist ignore family diversity
Marxism tends to focus on the negative aspect of the nuclear family whilst functionalist see it as meeting the needs of the individual and society
