What was the journey West like?
- Highly depended on timing- throughout october november, decmeber, january, february didnt want to travel, caught in the snow you would freeze
- Even in summer months getting over mountain was a challenge- had to haul wagons over mountain or just leav eit an deveryhting they owned
- Threat of Indains-some tribes werent as kind as sioux
- half way through they could easily loose all money and resources- would suffer as couldnt eat or drink.
- Could pick up and carry diseases and spread them across th eplains on their journey
The Sagars
- Henry Sagar's family (six children, wife) travelled west with 323 people and 72 wagons
- Rain made prairies muddy rivers made it hard to cross
- Naomi Sagar gave birth to their 7th child
- Found a buffalo herd, killed way more than they needed
