The success of an IT system depends on factors such as the following;
Ease of use
Any organisation who has an online presence, they must make sure that their clients find the organisation's website easy to use and generally a pleasant experience by making things.
As simple as possible – clear and consistent navigation
Predictable – users shouldn’t wonder what happens if I press here
Forgiving – users should be able to back track easily if they do something wrong
Consistent with what users expect – using the term shopping cart is familiar to almost all online shoppers.
Performance
The overall experience of a system will have an effect on the productivity of a workforce. A system which responds immediately to user requests and makes routine tasks quicker and easier for the user will ensure that tasks can be completed in a faster time and lead to a more productive workforce.
Availability
Broadband services may sometimes be disrupted or unavailable, leaving millions of customers unable to connect to websites. Organisations using cloud software are particularly vulnerable, since they will not be able to use essential software until the problem is fixed.
Accessibility
A computer system should be made accessible to as many employees and customers as possible, through appropriate design of both hardware and software.
Hardware includes;
Microphone to enable verbal input, speakers/headphones for audio output, concept keyboards to enable a disabled person to input text, braille display to convert screen output to Braille, large monitor with large text for partially sighted person, specially adapted mouse or trackball.
Software
Operating system may provide. Adjustable screen resolution, brightness, text size, contrast etc. this will be able to suit individual users. Audio description of screen elements such as images or menus, audio instructions for navigation. Enlarged on screen keyboard to facilitate data entry.
