Imperial - controls, dominates and legislates US politics without the need of effective checks and balances

✔ SC has gained more power through judicial review - Marbury V Madison helped strengthen the federal judiciary - the power of judicial review gave judges power to impose restrictions on elected policy makers (accountable to voters).
