Ionic Bonding

Ionic bonding is when atoms lose or gain electrons, they form charged particles which are called ions. Ions are strongly attracted to one another because they have opposite charges.

Atoms want to have full outer electron shells. They try to get rid of (elements near the left side of the periodic table) or gain an electron(elements at the right side ogf the periodic table) to complete their shell which means they become an ion. Atoms which want to gain an electron latch onto the ions
