An ionicbond is a strong non-directional electrostatic force of attraction between cations and anions due tot ransfer of electrons. it is formed by metal atom losing electrons to non-metal atom or atoms. Metal ion formed has a positive charge and the non metal, negative.

When naming, the metal always comes first.

EX - Sodium chloride.
