Internal factors are factors within schools and the education system, such as the interactions between pupils and teachers, and inequalities between schools. 

  • Labeling and teacher racism

Mirza studied ambitious black girls and these girls failed to achieve their ambitions because their coping strategies restricted their opportunities and resulted in under achievement, She said that teachers discourage black pupils from being ambitious by their advice they give about careers. Mirza says there are three types of teachers.
