INTERLINING:

  • fusible interlinings like Vilene have an adhesive on one side, melting between 120-180 degrees C
  • the use of interlinings are crucial because they give body and shape control to the top fabric;
    - reinforce/provide strength in areas of wear
    - prevent stretching/sagging
    - breathable and comfortable
    - stable to wash/dry clean
    - prevents fraying
  • can be laminated to other fabrics using adhesives, stitching or the fabrics own thermoplastic qualities

LINING:

  • is a separate fabric entirely
  • provides warmth and give a finished inside to the garment
