Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988

Protects intellectual property e.g. software, interfaces, hardware, books and manuals, images. Firms must check no unauthorised software is on the computers and that employees are not illegally downloading music, films etc. They must ensure they are following the license agreement which is a contract between the user and software producer that sets out how the software can be used. These policies are laid out in either the code of practice or acceptable use policy.
