Who influences us and how?

• Anything can influence us: whether it is advertisements or magazine articles
• With advertisements, the producers try to get hold of well- known people in order to get their product sold
• If you like the celebrity involved, you might be persuaded to buy the brand
• In this case, the celebrity is acting as an opinion leader
• Many pressure groups promote their causes through media, and collect information using the Freedom of Information Act 2000, university lecturers, and answers questions in Parliament
• An example would be Greenpeace
