Children in Industrial Revolution

Children were used as they were small and could fit places adults couldn't. Orphans were mainly hired as they didn't have much to live for. Kids in poor familys would have to work as they needed the money. Easy to boss around and very gullible would believe what they said was true. 

Jobs kids did

  • Cleaned under the machines
  • Spinning cotton
  • 13/14 year olds would help the youngers

Conditions

Crampt, very hot,loud and dusty. Dust got into their lungs and caused chest infections. Very dirty from the machines. Injured easily as the machines weren't about health and safety it was about how much they could get done in a certain amount of time. Work loew and hurt their backs.
