Railways
- 1880s: State began to buy up railway companies and construct new long distance railways
- 1890s: 60% of whole railway system was state owned rose to 66% in 1905
- 1881-85: 632km build yearly,1891-95: 1292km build yearly
- 1905: Had 59,616km of railway that showed major engineering feat accomplished
- Helped open Russia's interior allowing exploitation of raw materials
- Railway reinforced export drive and stimulated development of iron and coal industries
- Transport costs fell causing goods prices to fall
- Government then gained revenue from charges and passenger fares
- River and sea navigation improved, there was an increase in steamships
