Human direct impacts on their biome --- The palm oil industry burns the forest to clear the land for plants. 2000 orangutans are killed every year. Orangutans are attracted to the palm fruit in the plantations and become persecuted as pests. Deforestation is thought to contribute to 20% of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
