  • With the French came the introduction of the French Code of Law which was considered much fairer than previous rule. The code forbade torture and also made clear that everyone was equal
  • French rule also emerged the middle class, beforehand there was only the landowners and labour workers. The land owners included aristocrats and the church
  • Napoleon sold large amounts of church land which benefitted the middle classes as they could afford to buy this
  • secret societies began to emerge as well due to the dominance…
