Vaccine - it protects you against dangerous, infectious diseases - small amounts of dead/inactive pathogen are put into the body, often by injection.

The antigens in the vaccine stimulate your WBC into making anti-bodies. The anti-bodies destroy the antgens without any risk of you getting the disease.

You are immune to future infections by the pathogen. That is because your body can respond rapidly and make the correct antibody as if you had already had the disease.
