We are usually injected with the pathogen or its antigens (either dead or weakened). The body responds to the antigens and mounts an immune response. The contents of the injection is called a vaccine.
Active immunity - Slow but long lasting, your body makes its own antibodies against a pathogens antigens. eg.after illness or vaccination
Passive immunity - Rapid but short lived. you recieve ready made antibodies against a pathogen or toxin. eg. antivenom for snake…
