Youth:

Confused youth- young people in modern industrial societies are often described as confused about their identities. With no public rites of passage announcing their transition to adulthood, many teenagers are said to be in a confused state. Thus they experiment with many roles and styles in an attempt to find their 'true' selves. Functionalists claims that 'youth culture' helps to ease the passage towards stable identities and personalities.
