- this revolt was encouraged by the one in Poland in 1956with workers protests
- their encouragment was heightened when Wladyslaw Gomulka granted reforms in Poland after these protests
- the Hunagrian leader, Rakosi, (who was a staunch Stalinist) was forced to leave his position after being accused of being 'ill' and in need of 'treatment'
- he was replaced by Gero who turned out to be inadequate at the job as he refused to grant any…
