As you have seen, high blood choleserol levels are linked to a higher than average risk of cardiovasular disease. In other words, you are more likely to have a heart attack or a stroke if your blood cholesterol is high.
Doctors now have an amazing weapon against high cholesterol levels and the problems they cause. They can use a group of drugs called statins. Statins ae drugs that lower the amount of cholesterol in your blood. They stop your liver producing too much cholesterol. Patients need to keep a relatively low fat diet as well for the best effects.
