What are the functions of your kidneys?

The kidneys are the key in maintaing the body's homeostasis. Without them the body would not be able to function.

How do the kidneys do this?

The kidneys have a special filtration method to make sure the body keeps all the needed subtances, but gets rid of the waste products.

Inside the Nephrons is where the filtration of the blood takes place...

1. Blood from the renal artery enters the Nephrons.

2. It goes into the Bowman's capsule, where the soluble molecules, water, urea, ions and glucose are pushed into the capsule, under high pressure, and the other molecules, which are too big, remain in the blood, such as protein and blood cells. This…
