- 1.7 million Russians died in the First World War
(a quater killed, wounded or taken as prisoner by the end of 1914)
- -familitles would have been devestated and would have blamed the TSar
-can only blame the Tsar as everyone ahd expected the Russians to win due to the fact that the Russian army of 1.4 million (plus another 4 million at the end of 1914) was the largest in Europe. So it should have been a lot harder and a lot less of a humiliating defeat for Russia.
