History notes part 3

Berliners - beaten people in 1945. Fate was in the hands of Britain/Franch/US/USSR. Germany divided into 4 occupation zones after the war.

Soviet, US, British and French. Berlin divided too. Linked to the western zones by a highway and a railway. Berlin/Germany only places where US/USSR troops came into direct contact. One of the reasons why Berlin became a battlefield for the cold war.

Berlin - Food at starvation levels and the currency was worthless. Black market only. British foreign sec Ernest Bevin wanted to try and recreate germany and give it a chance to live, while not allowing it to build up weapons.
