Renaissance means re-birth and 1500-1700 was the re-birth of medicine.

This is when the church had a decreased influence on medicine and people became interested in the progression of medicine. 

Versalius had a huge impact on the discover of anatomy because he proved some of Galen's work wrong. For example, Galen said that the human jaw bone is made up of 2 bones, but Versalius proved that it only has one bone.
