End of WW1, Kaiser abdicates, country switches from monarchy to republic, agreed to armistice, new weimar republic,

Land- lost colonies and land
Army- reduced army number, demilitarisation of the Rhineland
Money- £6.6 billion reparations to Allies
Blame- accepted blame for the war ( Article 231)
Novermber Criminals signed the treaty of versailles
stabbed German peeople in the back
Social chaos
Left wing - Spartacist revolt, tried to overthrow the government
DAP set - Drexler was the leader.
1920
Kapp Putsch, right wing, politicians killed
DAP makes its own para-military called the SA
1921
Hitler becomes the leader of the DAP and changed its name to NSDAP to appeal to more Germans
Hitler's ideas:
Stop the Treaty of Versailles
Get rid of the Jews
Bigger army
Protect tradtional German life
1923
Ruhr crisis
Ruhr was an industrial area in Germany with many factories
Reparations not paid to France
France invaded the Ruhr
Ebert tells workers to go on strike (passive resistance)
Germany can't produce enough goods
Germany can't pay reparations
Germany print off more money and this leads to hyperinflation
Hyperinflation:
+ People with debts profited as they could easily pay off their debts
- People with savings lost money.
Stressmann introduced the Rentenmark ( it was stable as it was equal to the price of gold)
Hyperinflation leads to Munich Putsch
Hitler tries to take advantage of the chaos
Hitler and the Nazis try to take over the Bavaria, he failed, gets arrested
Wrote Mein Kampf in prison.
