HERPES = a viral disease that affects people from the age of 14-49.
- There are 2 types of herpes (HSV). Both highly contagious- can be passed easily by direct contact.
- can lie active inside the body
- there is no cure
- STI
- you DO NOT GET this virus, you CATCH it.
GENITAL HERPES = a common infection caused by HSV which infects the skin and mucous membranes of the genital and sometimes around the opening of the rectum
- can be passed through sexual contacts- STI
- a chronic condition (long-term)- virus remain in your body, can become active again
- usually transmitted during sex (vaginal, anal, or oral) with an infected person.
CAUSES
- unprotected sex
- HSV
- STI
- can lie active inside the body
- having genital contact with an infected person
SYMPTOMS
- tingling/burning sensation before te blister appears
- red blisters around the genitals
- blisters and ulcer on the cervix
- vaginal discharge
- pain when you pass urine
- fever- high temp
- cold sores around the mouth
- nausea/feeling sick
- swollen glands
