1.       Henry VII and the nobility

 

·         Henry gave out very few titles, so he isolated all nobles to lower class people who were loyal and did not possess enough power to pose a threat.

·         The Percy Family posed a threat as a Yorkist. The Earl of Northumberland was killed in the Yorkshire rebellion and left his minor son to inherit the land and money. The family had to pay Henry huge wardship rights to keep the land in tact. As well as this, the child was brought up by the king. This threat was contained.

·         John De Vere: Became major landowner of East Anglia

·         Jasper Tudor: Restored welsh estates, now Duke of Bedford

·         Thomas Stanley: Retained Lancashire and made Earl of Derby

·         Files Daubney: Made lord, in 1485 he became Chamberlain of household

·         Richard Fox: Keeper of the Privy seal

 

1.2. Acts of Attainder

·         Used to reduce power of nobles by declaring them a traitor

·         Declared a land owner guilty of rebelling against a monarch

·         Led to a family losing the right to possess land and
