WHAT FACTORS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FLOWERING OF ENGLISH CULTURE BETWEEN 1558 AND 1603?

Royal and noble patronage.

It showed enthusiasm for plays and companies were formed under the patronage of noblemen to get a lisence and theartres were established in London. This meant that more people went to see plays, resulting in more being performed.

The invention of the printing press.

It was invented in 1476 and caused the production of books to increase. Higher classes could now buy and read books. It made people want to learn to read so that they could read the new books.

The expansion of education.

Education became more desirable and Humanism started to have an impact. Also more universities were built. All the higher classes were educated and went to one of the top universities.

The growth of London.

It was the largest and wealthiest city in the country and it was where court resided and was the centre of communication. Aspiring artists moved to London to make money…
