Global Warming and Climate Change

HideShow resource information

Without any greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth would be colder than it is now. So we need greenhouse gasses - just not too much of them

Upsetting the greenhouse effect has lead to global warming

  • Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas) has increased the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere
  • The global temperature has also risen during this time
  • This is global warming
  • A lot of evidence has been collected that shown the rise in carbon dioxide is causing global warming by upsetting the greenhouse effect
  • So there's now a scientific consensus (general agreement) that humans are causing global warming
  • Global warming is a type of climate change and it also causes other types. For example, global warming
